Australia FlagThe Australia Defense Force has nearly 60,000 active personnel and a further 40,000 active and standby reserve forces.  While small, it remains the largest military in Oceania.  Australian troops have fought alongside Great Britain for decades and were part of the original coalition of nations to send troops to Iraq in 2003.  The Australian military also fought in Afghanistan.

“It will be a privilege and an honor to compete with and against military personnel who have all suffered and risen to the challenge through adversity.”  – Tony Benfer, Australian Warrant Officer, PTI and Team Vice Captain.

Australian Team Captain Paul Warren

“We have wounds, but they do not define us. Hopefully we will show this to the public. We are the lucky ones who made it home. The Invictus Games honor those who weren’t as lucky, and pay respect to those who played a part in our recovery – the first responders, the medical teams and our families. Here, we get a chance to once again represent our countries and prove that we truly are unconquered.”

– Captain Paul Warren
